Based on a contemporary understanding of sculpture, which encompasses a wide range of media, and guided by the idea of bringing art and nature together, contemporary artists had been invited to engage with a municipal park in Chur, the Fontanapark, and to develop site-specific works. The focus lay on a direct interaction with the carefully designed and maintained park, its history, and its conditions at the time.
What the invited artists shared was an engagement with the multifaceted relationship between culture and nature—a theme that gained particular relevance in this context. Through their works, the artists contributed to a multilayered and critical examination of a familiar living environment and conveyed a vivid sense of what contemporary sculpture in public space could be.
