Veronika Spierenburg (*1981) was the recipient of the 2013 Manor Art Prize Aargau, an award given annually in each Swiss canton and regarded as one of the most important in contemporary Swiss art. This prize provided the occasion for her first institutional solo exhibition.
Drawing on her fascination with museum architecture, the artist developed a multi-part multimedia installation, consisting of photographs, a large-scale spatial object, as well as a video and an audio work. With a strong sensitivity for materiality and form, she explored the architectural structures of the Kunsthaus Glarus, the Östergötland Museum in Linköping, and the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam. Spierenburg's works established connections to the Aargauer Kunsthaus and revealed a delight in working with a minimalist formal vocabulary. In the subtle interplay of space, form, movement, and sound, they unfolded a dynamic of their own that carried a contemplative power.
The publication Ecke, Hök, Horn, designed as a hybrid between an artist's book and an exhibition catalog, was published by Edition Fink to accompany the exhibition. Edited by Nicole Rampa, Katrin Weilenmann and Aargauer Kunsthaus.
